Friends of the Dark

Just as there is saidar and saidin, there is also The Light and The Shadow. The Shadow is always present. Even if the Light believes it has prevailed, the Shadow remains still. Such has it been for many turnings of the Wheel and many Ages long since past. But in this Age, the Light shall be plundered by the Shadow and the Great Lord will stand ruler across the land. The forces of the Light will be brought to kneel before the Great Lord's might and only his loyal servants will hold positions amongst the new hierarchy.

Become a Friend of the Dark and begin your path to unending wealth and power. Help the Great Lord vanquish the Light and your position in his new hierarchy will be assured. The Great Lord is in constant search for loyal Friends and will accept anyone brave enough and wise enough to see that the Shadow will prevail. Aes Sedai, Children of the Light, Aiel Warriors, even the peasant folk in the streets-- Anyone can assure their position at the Great Lord's side and claim their wealth and power once the Light has been vanquished...

The Darkfriend Guild is a Guild that is not a Guild. One cannot be a Darkfriend alone. The Great Lord insists that his loyal Friends be active in the world around them so that they can provide him useful service. Being a Friend of the Dark means one may live their own life, but must be ready for when the Great Lord calls upon them to perform tasks to help assure the Light's fall.

Need a Darkfriend for Your Role Play? If you have a Darkfriend character in mind that you would like to have in your Role Play, please get that character's consent and then bring it across the Darkfriend Coordinator's desk for approval before beginning the Role Play. Just as with Accepted only leaving Tower grounds with the consent of the Mistress of Novices, thus is the same with Darkfriends. They cannot perform tasks with the Great Lord's consent if they act without informing him.

If you don't have a specific Darkfriend character in mind for your Role Play, that is fine as well. Just send an email to the Darkfriend Coordinator and they will look through the dossiˇrs for a suitable Darkfriend for the Role Play.

OOC Information: To become a Friend of the Dark, you must choose to do so at character creation. Once you have made the choice to become a Darkfriend, you will be contacted by the Darkfriend Coordinator, a Chosen among the Great Lord's ranks. If you choose to become a Darkfriend after character creation, you will need to edit your character's profile and then email the Darkfriend Coordinator and let them know. Similarly, if you have any questions regarding the Darkfriend Guild, feel free to send an email to the Darkfriend Coordinator.

The leader of the Darkfriends is Alainn Cineal, Darkfriend Coordinator. Contact her with any questions or concerns.

Restrictions and IC Laws

There are no points system bonuses to Role Playing a character as a Darkfriend. However being a Darkfriend will open up a new channel of Role Play for your character and will provide you with the necessary tools to add some more depth to a character. This may be used to aid in the acquisition of points using the normal points system. In addition, the Darkfriend Guild makes no limitations on what Guild a character may be in, or what skills and weapons they can and cannot use. The only limitations are the ones provided by the actual Guild your character is in.

IC LAW

  • All Darkfriend characters are to keep in mind the specific In Character Laws of their guild. Although on occasion being a Darkfriend character may require that a character break the IC Law of the specific guild, the guild's IC Laws still apply to that character.
  • When Role Playing in the capacity of a Darkfriend, the Great Lord frowns upon his servants disobeying his orders. He also frowns upon people claiming to be following his orders if the orders were not indeed issued by him through the Darkfriend Coordinator. Overstepping your position within his hierarchy may lead to very unpleasant circumstances.

OOC Law

  • If you wish to Role Play something more indepth than the simple day to day of being a Darkfriend, you need to get the consent of the Darkfriend Coordinator before carrying out the RP. For instance, if you're a Novice character and terrorizing the other Novices, that's a character issue-- you're just mean-- and doesn't require the Darkfriend Coordinator's consent. However grander Role Play, such as the type that begin actual Role Plays and not just threads, require the Darkfriend Coordinator's consent. This is not to say that the Darkfriend Coordinator is out to hamper Role Play, but it is a necessary step to keeping the activity of all Darkfriends... Coordinated.
  • People Role Playing as Darkfriends must understand that although the OOC identity of their Darkfriend character will not be revealed by the Tower Officers privy to the information, it is inevitable that someone, somehow, will discover OOCly that your character is a Darkfriend and may also find out that it is you Role Playing that character. It is the advice of the Darkfriend Coordinator to not Role Play your Darkfriend character in a manner that OOCly requires it to be secret. This is a community to have fun and if you're Role Playing in a manner that means your discovery will eliminate that fun, then it's not an appropriate manner of Role Play.
  • Any Role Play that reveals a character ICly as a Darkfriend without the consent of the person Role Playing the Darkfriend character becomes invalid. A Darkfriend's identity ICly cannot be revealed without the player's consent. If a character is thinking to themself about being a Darkfriend, but never said anything that would reveal it, then it is up to the characters Role Playing with that Darkfriend character to keep in mind the difference between IC information and OOC information and Role Play appropriately. ie: Unless they grab hold of you and say, "I'm a Darkfriend," you don't know that they are. Similarly, it is the Darkfriend player's job to not make their identity as a Darkfriend blatantly obvious to other characters. If you don't want them to learn your IC identity as a Darkfriend, then don't grab hold of them and say, "I'm a Darkfriend."
